about me

My name is Stephanie Sweet, also know as Steph, Stevie, Steve; honestly I will answer to all but prefer Stevie lol. I am a long time artist with a BA in Visual Communication Design from Purdue University. Jay, my husband, and I have been married since 2011 and have a crazy dog Ruby and three wonderful children, Ella, Harrison, and Evelyn.

my backstory

After my third child, we needed a little more flexibility to accommodate our family and I was lucky to be able to take my experience and college degree and set up shop at home as a freelance graphic designer and artist. This allowed me to be the momma my kids needed and it also allowed me to keep designing and drawing. I have maintained a busy schedule all these years and when looking back, I sometimes forget all the fun times we have shared. It has been a life long goal to start a blog, but until now, it has been put on the back burner. I know I won’t be as diligent at posting as I would like but my goal is to capture some of these fleeting moments because I am realizing how fast they go.

this blog

In my blog “oursweetlife,” I plan to share both good times and the adversities we face as a family, as I face as a mom and as an entrepreneur. This year starts a new chapter for our family; Ella heads to middle school this fall and I turn 40 in September. I decided I need to start documenting more so I can look back and read about our lives and each stage we have made it through. I want to put more time into writing, with grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes and ALL! I want to share my thoughts and feelings on parenting, being a mompreneur (a mom and entrepreneur), dealing with neurodiversity on multiple levels in our family, handling physical and mental health challenges, and most of all, just sharing things with honesty. We all know social media outlets only show the fab times in our lives, tiny glimpses into our happiest moments. Maybe it’s because that’s how we want to remember our lives or maybe we want others to think we have our shit together and life is an absolute peach. But, in reality sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t.

Lots of love xoxo,

Stevie
